Hide user accounts from the Windows XP\Vista\7 Welcome screen
Hey guys! If you don't want additional user accounts (administrator/guest) to be displayed in the log on page, this is the article for you.
1.first, at run (winkey+r) type regedit and press enter.
2.Once in regedit, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
3.In the left panel, right click on Winlogon and click New and click Key.Type SpecialAccounts and press enter.
4.In the left panel, right click on SpecialAccounts and click New and click Key.Type UserList and press enter.
5.In the right panel of UserList, right click on a empty area and click New then click DWORD (32bit) value.
6.Type in the name of the user account that you want to hide and press Enter.
Example: Guest
Right click on the user account name and click modify.
7.To hide the user account - Type 0 and click OK. (0 - number zero) Whenever you want to use the acocunt just change the 0 to 1 and save.
However, I am not sure of two things! One, I guess you need administrator account to change the values i suppose. Two, A short key ctrl+alt+del is supposed to be able to access the account on the log on page! Its wise to keep a password for the hidden account. The short cut key is not working in Windows 7, at least in my system! :P
Any help to improve the article is welcomed. Please post your queries/suggestions/joys as comments :)
